A few references to the Sabbath through Scripture....
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. --Genesis 2:2-4
The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.' " --Exodus 31:16-17
"If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob." The mouth of the LORD has spoken. --Isaiah 58:13-14
Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." --Mark 2:27-28
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was his custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. --Luke 4:16
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. --Hebrews 4:9-11

We will be gathering again in Newton, Iowa for Sukkot this coming October. Last year's festival was most memorable and plans are in place to hold the feast again at the Christian Conference Center in Newton. More details can be found at the website for Sukkot in Iowa.
Our weekly Bible study is looking at the relating sections of Scripture from the Prophets (Haftarah) and the New Testament. Sound good? I think so.
Details:
Who: You
What: Bible Study - Prophets and New Testament
When: Monday nights - 7:00 until 8:30 PM
Where: The Lampost Theatre & Coffee Shop
Bring your Bible and some spare change for a coffee treat, and open the Word as we explore the sayings and writings of the Apostles and the Prophets of Israel.
We assemble each Sabbath (Saturday) from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for discussion, worship, teaching, and learning. Bring an open heart and "ears to hear!" Come when you can, leave when you need to. Currently, we meet at the Lampost Theatre and Coffee Shop in Cedar Falls, Iowa. For a map and directions, please see our Contact Us page.
Each week, a portion of the five books of Moses is read and serves as the basis for our study. For a schedule of readings in 2007, click HERE.
Starting on October 6, 2007, we will begin implementing a new, user-friendly, Torah study with three distinct sections.
"Torah 101"
"Torah 101" will take you deep into the Beginning with fresh insights and direct ties to our Messiah.
From 1:00 until 2:00 PM, there will be a beginner study designed for those of us who would like to learn about major concepts and teachings in the Torah, and how they relate to our Savior Yeshua (Jesus), that others may already be familiar with.
"Praise & Fellowship"
From 2:00 until ~2:30 PM. This will involve any combination of music, dance, prayer, or introspective worship time.
"Torah 201"
From 2:30 until we're done (4:00 or 4:30 PM), we plan to have a more in-depth or detailed midrash (discussion) on the Torah portion, similar to what you're used to if you have attended a Living Waters Sabbath Meeting in the past, perhaps with an added individual teaching time.
We are all looking forward to welcoming new people to the study of the God's Word!!

If I forget you Jerusalem, let my right hand forget. If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth; If I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy. --Psa 137:5-6
